There's nothing more that I hate than a boring day at work. Except for a boring day at work during a 2 week plant shut down. Not only is our factory shut down for maintenance, but everyone and their mom seems to be on vacation. I'm making my calls and nobody is around to answer them. I guess there's nothing left to do but blog! Anyway. Onto my run. I have come to the realization that I may have been running too fast while we were out there. Yesterday my co-worker said "remember, you have a fat girl running with you". I said, I feel that every time my foot hits the ground. She responded with "not you, but me". At that light, we took off and ran at a slower pace. That's when it hit me. My shins were hurting from the faster pace I was trying to hold. I think it happens as we hit 13th and go down a slight hill and we tend to speed up. I know that by 9th we are struggling and dying for our stop. Today, I did my best to keep a slower pace and the run was much nicer. It still sucked because of the nasty thickness that hung around my head all morning. I was drenched in sweat by the time we got back. The nice long slow run was all I needed to get my head back in the game. That and the same guy that passed us 4 times!
I'm running tomorrow as planned to wrap up my month of July, and I'll be starting August out with a rest day. I'm going to be trying to figure out my training schedule. I honestly thing it's stupid to train for a half while running 6 miles a day, 5 days a week. I may cut one or two days off during the week. If I cut off two, I'll pick up a weekend day. I know my co-worker wants to take 2 days off so she can work out at her gym. I need to get some weights moving on my body. The other thing would be with school. I won't be able to get up at 530 am every day anymore with all that is going on. Hell, it's hard enough with a life! Soon enough I'll be back to lunch time runs and all will be good. I did notice that my weight started standing still more since I started in the AM. We'll see what gives here soon when Fall arrives. I hope that everyone is having a great day. I must at least try to start working now since I will be visiting Target in about an hour. It's such a damn shame I work close to one too!

I hear ya on the "trying to work". Good luck with that, and not blowing the bank at Target. = )
Great job on your running. I will also be starting off August with a rest day (it was either that or take tomorrow off, and not be able to finish the month strong). I'm *this* close to beating my mileage for June, and even though I won't make my goal, I want to at least show progress. Your mileage totals are awesome- congrats!
Good luck on the plateau. I like the advice (from new*me) about not eating late, and avoiding carbs at dinner (or at least cutting back). My body seems all wacked out now that I'm running in the AM, so as I try to figure it out, I'll send any bits of wisdom your way.
You are rocking the pavement girl. Now that you figured out the shin issue I bet that will help alot.
Time for me to get back into my evening work out routine as well. I havent been going in the mornings anymore... too hard.
I need to try running in the evening again. I just find that my legs are fresher in the morning.
Are you going back to school ft or just pt? I think you mentioned before that it was for some business classes?
SIAM! Hooray! I haven't been there in four years. I keep campaigning for a trip there when we go up to visit friends, and I keep getting overruled for other things - like the Great Lakes Brewery (which I love too!).
I hope slowing up just a bit will make your runs better. You should be enjoying it - every crazy, pavement-pounding minute of it!
Or so I've heard. ;-)
PS - Glad to read that I'm not the only one who sweats buckets from her head!
and?
target treats?
anything?
did you stay strong??
inquiring minds and all,
Miz.
